Communication Strategy

DIY COMMUNICATION STRATEGY TEMPLATE

IT’S OK TO DO IT YOURSELF

Some of us are ‘give it to me, I can do it myself’ and you can, so why not. If you are self-employed or an entrepreneur, most of the time you do not have a choice but to DIY your communication plan.

To be honest, it’s a good thing because it really helps you dive deep into what you want to communicate to your audience and then how to track what you are communicating. If you have your strategy down, it really helps you NOT be distracted by all the options and what others are doing.

You will WRITE IT, WORK IT, TRACK IT, TWEAK IT and then BOOM, you are a success, right? Well, there are no promises in life except death and taxes. However, your probability is higher than if you WING IT.

Get Started For Free!

We are all about helping self-employed and entrepreneurs, so to get you started, feel free to download our strategy list of what you need to consider to get started.  It is not the comprehensive version (that’s below), but it will give you a great idea of all the things you need to consider.

DISCOVER

No one likes an audit. Why? You get to see where you stand online and where your audience lives. If you are just starting, you’ll find out you have a lot of work to do.  However, you also get to snoop on your competition!

PLAN

This is where the ‘thinking hard’ comes in. Ask yourself ‘what are you trying to achieve?’ This should be a simple statement, but the planning to achieve this simple statement is expansive.

PREPARE

Don’t be overwhelmed by this section.  If you prepare, it will be much easier to ‘get rollin’. Don’t become a professional preparer though. This is where many fail and never launch.

GET ROLLIN'

Take your preparation and convert it to ‘tactics’.  It’s that simple.  Tactics are a list of daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly ‘To Do’s’ with a set of well thought out ways to do them or the best way to do them.

TRACKING

If you don’t track, how will you know if your tactics are successful and within budget.  To pivot and ultimately succeed, you need to know what it costs you and for how long it will take to achieve the desired outcomes.
